How To Upgrade Or Downgrade An Account In CPanel - Online Article

An excellent feature of WHM in cPanel is that if your client needs more resources and want to upgrade to a better hosting plan, you can easily do that. You can also downgrade the hosting plan for a client who does not want more resources and wants a cheaper plan instead. This can have direct influence on the increase or decrease of the popularity of an account as well as the flow of the traffic on the various websites. Thus, in other words, it can be said that upgrading or downgrading an account in cPanel is assigning a new package to the account by changing the present plan.

These can be easily done by going through the following steps. First, you need to log into the WHM. Then click on the Account Functions icon. When you click there then the Upgrade/Downgrade an Account icon opens. In this screen you need to click on the either domain or the user field for upgrading or downgrading the account. It is located on the Account Selection window. If you want you can take the help of the Account Search feature also to search for the account. On the right hand side of the window you need to give the following details such as the IP, Owner, Email, Start Date, Theme, Package, Disk Used and Disk Limit. Then click on the Modify button.

When the Upgrade/Downgrade Account screen is displayed then you need to give the name of the current package and select the name of the new package from the drop down menu. Then click on the Upgrade/Downgrade button. The changes will be applied automatically. The package selection interface provides you with the opportunity to know the configuration of any package that is available in the drop down list. You can view the configuration by selecting an account from the field and then scroll over the magnifying glass button.

If the package that you are choosing has an account name as Appended in the beginning of the name then it will mean that the package was created specifically catering for that account. Packages which do not have Appended mentioned before their account names are known as Global Packages.
